Meet Houston Oral & Facial Surgeon Dr. Blake D. Maida

Dr. Blake D. Maida was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He spent summers growing up around his family’s boot and shoe business and quickly developed a passion for two things, working with his hands and helping others.
He is a graduate of St. Thomas High School and received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a minor in Business from The University of Texas at Austin. While at UT he was a member of the Silver Spurs Service Organization, tasked with the honor of taking care of Bevo, the Longhorn mascot.
Dr. Maida moved on to pursue and earn his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, graduating Magna Cum Laude with research honors. He was selected for induction into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon national dental honor society. Remaining in San Antonio, he completed a year of advanced education in general dentistry at the Veteran’s Affairs Hospital with a special emphasis on dental implants. It was during this year that Dr. Maida developed a true passion and love for surgery, thus knowing what he needed to do to pursue his calling.
He earned his Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Texas Medical School and completed his six-year specialty training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the renowned University of Texas Medical Center and affiliated Baylor hospitals here in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Maida is a Fellow of The American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and is an active member of the American Dental Association, American Medical Association, Texas Dental Association, Texas Medical Association and the Greater Houston Dental Society. He serves as a consultant for the Surgical Peer Review Committee at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital. His clinical interests include dental implants, dentoalveolar surgery, oral & facial trauma, complex reconstructive & orthognathic surgery, as well as cleft lip & palate surgery.
When not attending to the care of his patients, Dr. Maida really enjoys spending quality time with his wife and two small children, along with close personal friends. He serves the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo as a member of the Health Committee, the Sports Medicine Committee and the Mutton Bustin’ Committee. He has a variety of hobbies which include hunting, fishing, skiing, golfing, traveling, and vegetable gardening.

My experience with this dentist office was exceptional. Lily was awesome and she really made me feel at ease. Dr. Maida was a miracle worker. I was in excruciating pain and he recognized it and he handled it. And I’m so grateful for that. My tooth extraction was painless and he actually called me later that evening and checked on me to make sure all was well. Well all was well Dr. M and it’s all because of your exceptional work. I thank the Lord for leading me there. Also Heather thank you for being so polite and helpful. The entire office staff from the front desk to the back where I had my procedure was awesome and professional. Again I thank you guys from the bottom of my heart. I had a very pleasant experience with Dr. Madia and staff. I was very anxious about the appointment and any procedure, but Dr. Madia was very patient with me and spend a lot of time trying to calm me down, the staff was very helpful and kind and always available to help. Dr. Madia is very professional, He takes the time to explain what needs to be done and provides valuable advice , It's not easy to find a good dentist these days, I highly recommend Dr. Madia and his staff for YOUNG OR OLD.

The staff squeezed me in at the last minute, which I could not appreciate more. They move quickly in the office and you can tell everyone knows what they are doing. Dr. Maida is concise and direct. He explained to me what some possible outcomes might be and he scheduled me for a follow up. He made sure I understood how to get by until our next appointment. The one uncool thing he said was, "No solid foods until your jaw heals," but that's not his fault. I let it slide. 🙂
